Groovy Condo 5 Year Anniversary!
What's the occasion, you ask?
Why it's my Condo Anniversary! I bought the Groovy Condo 5 years ago!
Sadly, there is not a Hallmark card for this.
My, how time flies. It seems like just yesterday I was condo shopping. I wanted to live Midtown or Downtown in a building with character, something quirky, something that has seen Omaha grow and change around it. A tough cookie kind of building.
As an artist, I can be a pain in the neck (or lower?) about finding just the right thing I'm looking for. I toured several places that were fine, fine, lovely places, but they lacked that Ping! Pow! Wow! "it" feeling.
And well, to be completely honest, some places were just way outta my humble budget.
"But then I walked in and ...Ping! Pow! Wow! I felt like I was home. And my knees didn't wobble when I went out on the balcony. I giggled a little and said, "This is it!""
When I walked into the lobby of our building I immediately loved the retro vibe. I pictured Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers waltzing over to the mailboxes. (Ginger probably ordered shoes from Amazon, right?) My first visit was to a 2 bedroom on the 8th floor. Lovely place, but I was terrified when I went out on the balcony! Too high! Too high! My knees actually buckled under me. It was embarrassingly weird. I've never had a problem with heights. I returned a few days later, to test my knees again...and nope. My knees just didn't like it. So my agent suggested we look at a place a little lower, on the 5th floor. I was getting discouraged and the photos on line were pretty blurry, so I was skeptical AND discouraged.
But then I walked in and ...Ping! Pow! Wow!
I felt like I was home. And my knees didn't wobble when I went out on the balcony.
I giggled a little and said, "This is it!"
It was small and cozy and wonderful. A yellow kitchen!
As they say, the rest is history. All great history. I've loved every day here. I'm not just makin' that up 'cause I write the blog. Every day has felt like HOME.
Jazz on the Green summers, countless walks in the park, stress-free bus commuting, no snow to scoop, awesome restaurants close by, wonderful neighbors, no lawn to mow, lazy balcony moments and more!
The best compliment I've ever gotten about my condo: "It looks like such a happy place to live."
Ping. Pow. Wow.
