Ballroom Dancing in Midtown Omaha
One of my favorite TV shows, Dancing with the Stars premieres Monday, March 20th at 7:00 PM, on ABC!
The Rumba, Mambo, Cha-Cha, Waltz, Fox-Trot and Swing dances are just some of my favorite dances to...
From a distance.
In my big, fuzzy robe and slippers.
Yeah, I love to dance, but I've never been good at it. Remember Elaine dancing on Seinfield? That's my style. So I appreciate watching great dancing, especially watching the process of a non-dancer blossom into a real performer.
Did you see that Mr. T will be on this season? Kudos to Mr. T. I'll be cheering for him.
I pity the fool who can't cheer for Mr. T!!
Being a contestant on the show would be stressful. Not only are newbie dancers performing before millions of people, but the women are decked out in skimpy outfits, body glitter, high heels, and spray tans. All that AND they get judged by a panel of experts and a worldwide TV audience sitting at home, eating chips.
Recently my adorable husband and I were at a birthday party where the woman of honor belongs to a dance club. Her fellow dance friends offered to teach everyone the Samba. We tried to hide in a corner but they found us. Our 4 left feet were asked to try. With a little good-natured coaxing, we did.
And we loved it!
We certainly weren't Fred and Ginger, but we had a blast. The basic steps were easy to learn, and before we knew it, we felt like we were really dancing! What we really learned is there's no wrong way to dance if you're having fun (and not being judged by millions).
I did a little investigating on where we can learn to dance right here close to home. And I'm including photos from Amazon.com as suggestions for dancing accoutrements.

Their website says no experience is required. Oh, my. They must be patient people. Maybe the instructors wear steel toe shoes.
2679 Farnam Street, Suite 204
Private lessons for $25
25 bucks isn't too much to be spared public humiliation if you're a dancing introvert.
Their website says they offer classes that range from Social to Competitive Levels. I like that optimism. They can take your 2 left feet all the way from a night of dancing on the town to trophy level.

"I've got a girl in Kalamazoo!!!!!!" This sounds like so much fun! I wonder if Adorable Husband could lift me over his head. If you see him in a back brace, the answer is no.
Don't forget your glitter and spray tan!
